This brown furry skinned oval elongated fruit has lovely bright green flesh with tiny black seeds around the centre, unusual sweet flavour.

Late May to early June

Only the female plant bears fruit, the male is used for pollination at a rate of 1 male to 7 females.

Kiwi fruit are eaten fresh and used in wines, juices and jams.
Very high in Vitamin C. Pick fruit when firm and store for best flavour. A strong trellis is required to support very vigorous growth, the male plant is a more vigorous grower, and will require hard pruning often twice a year. Often pruning the female twice a year will keep under control and permit good size fruit and better ripening.

Plant in a sunny position with well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
