Alloxylon flammeum

Medium – large sized tropical tree of the Proteaceae family with a spreading habit and green shady foliage.

Also commonly known as a “Red Silky Oak”, this beautful native tree produces 18cm long glossy leaves and large clusters of bright red flowers in spring. Native to North Queensland rainforests, however is hardy and adaptable to farms and parks.

Needs:
– Full Sun/part shade
– Tolerates light frost, requires protection when young
– Thrives in most soil types, provided they are well-draining

Mature Size: 25-30Hm in it’s native habitat, but is much smaller in cultivation
